IBM Integrated Bluetooth IV All bluetooth connections seem to stall after certain period of time (seen from dmesg) - this alone makes file transfers, etc impossible, although there might be other problems too. sudo l2ping -s300 D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 Ping: D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 from 00:14:A4:DC:21:08 (data size 300) ... 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 0 time 58.62ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 1 time 19.87ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 2 time 18.92ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 3 time 19.93ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 4 time 29.36ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 5 time 18.08ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 6 time 15.73ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 7 time 20.92ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 8 time 17.88ms 300 bytes from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 id 9 time 15.92ms no response from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33: id 10 no response from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33: id 11 no response from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33: id 12 no response from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33: id 13 no response from D4:88:90:C2:8B:33: id 14 Recv failed: Software caused connection abort dmesg: [ 5787.352443] Bluetooth: hci0 link tx timeout [ 5787.352453] Bluetooth: hci0 killing stalled connection D4:88:90:C2:8B:33 The connection will always stall after 10 rounds. The pinged device is Samsung Galaxy S phone. When the same is being pinged from another computer, also running Ubuntu, the connection stays stable until aborted. Noticed exactly similar behavior reported here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=120488 - only common things are bluez and Broadcom bluetooth chip.
