With two of the linked branches the package now builds with
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck. The third branch (the qtdeclarative one)
fixes the segfault in tests. Some tests still fail, however, I hope that
some ubuntu-ui-toolkit devs can look at that.
