Sorry, currently there's no Ubuntu on my machine. Does Ubuntu's LiveCD allow you to eject the CD while running (so I can put in a CDRW to test) ? Also, I may try to reproduce it in Debian if you think this will help (but I will need some hint on which packages I need to install to be able to generate the crash dump).
