This occurs for me pretty much whenever I leave for awhile, come back, and within first 30 seconds of returning (starting to use my computer again), X will freeze. Only way to get out of it that I have found is using Alt + SysRq + REISUB. Checking syslog after it boots again, I always have "NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context". I very recently upgraded from a GTX 560 Ti to a GTX 770, and that's when this started happening. I never had this issue with my GTX 560 Ti. However, I do remember having this problem on the first gen aluminum iMac, with a 9800 I believe. I could never use the Nvidia drivers on it because of this, though the Nouveau drivers worked fine.
