Public bug reported:

We removed network-manager-gnome from the Ubuntu GNOME seed, since we no
longer require nm-applet.

gnome-shell requires the network-manager dbus service to obtain network
information (even when networking is manually configured via
/etc/network). So we should recommend this from gnome-shell.

Right now networking on the live cd's and new install will be a bit
broken!

** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
