I've upgraded to the latest saucy 3.11.0-7 kernel, but the trackpad is still not recognized as Synaptics. In kernel 3.8 it did work as expected.
** Description changed: First I installed stock Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail with kernel 3.8. Trackpad was functioning correctly (e.g. two-finger scrolling worked) and was recognized as Synaptics device in /proc/bus/input/devices. Due to very new Intel wireless 7260 hardware that did not work in kernel - 3.8, I had to upgrade my kernel to latest 3.11rc. With this kernel my - Synaptics trackpad is no longer recognized as Synaptics and works as - default evdev pointer (mouse) device, without all the trackpad features. + 3.8, I dist-upgraded to 13.10 Saucy Salamander with kernel 3.11. With + this kernel my Synaptics trackpad is no longer recognized as Synaptics + and works as default evdev pointer (mouse) device, without all the + trackpad features. - I dist-upgraded to 13.10 Saucy Salamander with kernel 3.10 to see if it - may have been fixed there. But unfortunately the trackpad regression is - also there. + This bug report was done with kernel 3.11rc7, but applies also to kernel + 3.10 and the latest saucy kernel 3.11 to which I'm upgraded by software + updater. Instead of Synaptics, devices lists it as below: I: Bus=0018 Vendor=06cb Product=2734 Version=0100 N: Name="DLL05E3:01 06CB:2734" P: Phys= S: Sysfs=/devices/pci0000:00/INT33C3:00/i2c-8/8-002c/input/input11 U: Uniq= H: Handlers=mouse0 event11 B: PROP=0 B: EV=17 B: KEY=30000 0 0 0 0 B: REL=3 B: MSC=10 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.7.1-0ubuntu1 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-031100rc7-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Sep 2 11:52:16 2013 DistUpgraded: 2013-09-01 22:21:35,082 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: saucy DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-08-09 (23 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) MachineType: Dell Inc.
