I have bisected the kernel as you suggested. Bisecting yielded two commits that could be connected with this bug. One of them (c468fb1375f1b4de851e3e0dbe9d1293d414a160) is unbuildable. At least, the compiler complains that in /include/linux/of_mdio.h:50: multiple definition of `of_phy_connect_fixed_link'
