Could you run the system settings from the terminal? Maybe a dump will give us more info :) I don't know which program is the system setting in Ubuntu, because I'm using Xubuntu. Could you try this in a Terminal: gnome-control-center Then, click again in Gufw. If something is wrong, you have to see a dump in the Terminal. Please, paste it here.
