Latest bios for this hardware is F8a which is available to public. Gigabyte Global Technical Service provided me with F8c firmware which allows more predictable access to BIOS settings. Again rodsbooks provides excellent advice regarding Ubuntu creating a FAT16 ESP when installer booting EFI mode see http://www.rodsbooks.com/gb-hybrid-efi/ which is evidence it is possible to boot Ubuntu installer using EFI on very similar hardware. Gigabyte refuse to acknowledge problem of booting non Windows installation media using EFI mode.
