Ian, I'm afraid this bug has been long standing and if anyone has a solution aside from uninstalling the package, it is beyond our knowledge. I simply learned to remove that particular spell pack to fix the problem. Otherwise, there is no known fix. I don't suppose you actually need that particular language package? If so, maybe, someone could come up with a solution for one that doesn't involve simply telling us to uninstall the package in question?
