Please, report only one issue per bug report. I have a feeling that your ISP has fairly broken DNS servers (the source of the "something wicked happened" messages) and you may do better if you can configure a router/firewall to use 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.1 as upstream DNS servers, but that may or may not work with your ISP.
