This was obviously long ago, but I can say for certain that it was an
aptitude update+upgrade that was performed. As the computer I used at
the time is a high-end computer with extremely fast connection, I'm
almost as certain that the sleep occurred *after* the apt-get operation.
Can probably not be reproduced easily.

There's also the graphical issue to consider. The computer (including
graphics) is high-end and it had a really hard time moving a couple of
information boxes upwards after one was clicked away. The boxes moved a
little bit faster and with lower cpu strain as I clicked more and more
away. Still, this implies that the position was calculated and possibly
rendered (if possible?) off screen, which seems highly in-effective.
