Hello Raymond,
                            Confusion.Apologies.
After a pause for reflection (and to work on my car
for MOT) , It seems to me that the thrust of your remarks and questions MIGHT
be that the display of the HDMI sound option might in some way be DEPENDENT
on the ability to recognise That an HDMI Hardware (Video) connection actually
exists??
This consideration did not originally occur to
me (!) while reporting the bug via THIS computer (AMD 2-Core) , connected at
the time to a CRT monitor NOT to the Sharp TV.
For your consideration therefore, I am
CURRENTLY USING the SAME machine, but NOW CONNECTED to the TV ;- and in order
to provide all the Diagnostics, I have just (Sat 5 Oct) submitted a second
report NEW BUG # 1235528

( As before, running "pavucontol" gives
me the Volume Control Window, which tells me that the Sound Output
Device is Turks/Whisler HDMI on Port "HDMI/Displayport" but this option
is NOT displayed on the System "Sound" menu..)
