I have this problem with my yoga 11s while trying to install both 13.04 and 12.04. I can see that ubuntu has loaded if I tilt the screen in the light and can hear the ubuntu start up noise(and volume up/down noise) but the backlight on the screen is off. I am working with the .iso's and only have Windows 8 on my machine. It looks like the solution above is for someone capable of modifying the kernels using the command line. I don't even know how if W8 has a command line? and do not wish to install 13.10 yet. Is there anyway to fix this for 13.04? Thanks.
