Looks like dependencies on grub are mostly okay at this point, ran apt- get remove grub* without issues, have to explicitly reinstall efibootmgr afterwards though.
haven't tested, but might be the mount state of drives with other OS. In both 12.04 and other distros, there are several differences in grub detection based on how drives are mounted when grub-update runs. if possible trying to have other drives mounted somewhere under / when grub updates *might* speed things up and give the fans break. next time i'm in that situation i'll test. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1203348 Title: update-grub takes ages with Fedora installed alongside Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1203348/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
