This bug is still present in 13.10 "Saucy". The problem seems to be because update-grub calls grub-mkconfig, which polls btrfs to find out the physical devices underlying the filesystem -- and grub replies with TWO devices, because it's configured as raid1. However passing both devices to grub-setup causes errors, especially because they are separated by a newline.
