Hello JoLiSh, thanks for the reply. Also, thanks for the update on your status. 13.04 as a possible explanation is disheartening. I upgraded to 13.04 a month ago and had a great deal of trouble so I fell back to the LTS 12.04. this time around I was determined to give Unity a fair shake so I haven't yet installed gnome-classic as I did before. Just to be clear 12.04 is a fresh install on an empty partition. all of this is the reason why I'm just now finding this glitch/bug. But because I'm having this same issue on 2 machines with different setups I'm shocked that it's just you and me having this trouble!
anyhow here are the 2 machines that I have Unity on right now, both with the hiding global menu problem. I'm about 1 more week from going back to gnome-classic. I've worked through all of my Unity challenges so far except this one. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. I may just see if there is a reasonable way to disable the global menu altogether. #1 Laptop HP 6730b Ubuntu 12.04.3 unity 5.20.0 Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller Kernel driver in use: i915 #2 Desktop HP workstation xw6200 Ubuntu 12.04.2 Unity 5.20.0 NVIDIA G71GL Quadro FX 3500 Kernel driver in use: nouveau -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1071523 Title: Global menu hides when hovering over it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1071523/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
