It happens often enough that I thought it worthwhile to report as a bug,
but I can't reproduce it easily.

I have an old Canon DLSR and the transfer speed via USB was terrible so
I now do the transfer by taking the card out and putting it in a reader.
What I have found is that often, but not predictably, Shotwell will stop
responding whilst displaying the thumbnails - some times it will crash,
some times it will recover and continue - and in other cases there is no
issue (e.g. after restarting once crashed). This is all with the same
card. Typically I transfer once I have more than 50 pictures on the
card. I use a cheap generic USB2.0 card reader.

I don't know why there's no stack trace. Let me know if there's anything
else I can do to help.
