One thing to try is to reset to factory defaults on the firmware and boot (to see if it still works!). Then shutdown, remove AC and battery and wait 5 or so minutes to ensure everything like the Embedded Controller is completely off and then plug in the battery and AC and see if suspend/resume is any more reliable.
