No, I can't reproduce it. But I strongly suspect it's related to the high disk activity, as it's not the first time I experience a whole system hang while doing massive disk operations (i.e. copying tons of files from a disk to another).
Actually I doubt it's a kernel issue, I reported it against linux just because I have no idea what package is responsible, and I don't know of a name to use as argument to ubuntu-bug to report the bug generically about ubuntu.
