Manually removing unity seems to do the trick - not sure if this bricks
something :/

To be precise, I'm currently on XUbuntu, so I'm not quite sure why I
even have unity installed (didn't do this on purpose AFAIR) and I don't
know if removing would be more trouble on a vanilla Ubuntu System
