After commenting here I managed to generate a bug report from my
installation attempts (bug #1241672).

I also found a workaround, as suggested on some ubuntu forums : reformat
your USB key before running unetbootin on it. It worked for me with
13.10. If it also works for you then I think bug #1241672 is a duplicate
of this one.
