Public bug reported:

In 12.04, 13.04 and 13.10 Network manager causes system freeze at random
times (both connected and disconnected from easytether) when
disconnected from wireless, only solution to recover is to do a hard
reboot.

This is with a Toshiba L655-S5075 (http://laptop-
infomation-247.blogspot.com/2010/12/toshiba-satellite-l655-s5075.html)

More information: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2178732

Steps to Reproduce:
Turn off wireless via network manager applet
Wait
Would crash for me between instantly to every hour.

Workaround:
sudo service network-manager stop (only step if not using easytether)
easytether connect
sudo dhclient easytether0 <-- would have to be in new terminal

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
