I've been having this ever since I upgraded to saucy beta 1. It works around 25% of the time, sometimes no sound at all, rarely the distortions, rarely without problems for the 1st call - the 2nd never worked. I don't know what skype tab is so I probably don't have it unless it comes bundled with the skype package.
