FYI, I've removed the translucency option in gDesklets now. The code is in our 
repo.
Since gtk2.12 GtkWindows have an opacity now. The problem is, that we can't 
depend on gtk2.12, otherwise lots of people who are using older systems won't 
be able to run gDesklets.

There isn't a satisfying solution to fix the bug. At least not at the moment.
On the other hand gDesklets-"nextgen" features real transparency, because it's 
using cairo as backend by default (other backends like gtk+, qt, tcl/tk, etc. 
are possible).

If anyone has an idea how to fix the bug, I'd be happy to have a look at
it.
