Download the file to your desktop. In a terminal run:

cd /home/david/Desktop
sudo mv rt3290sta-2.6.0.0.dkms.tar.gz /usr/src
cd /usr/src
sudo tar -zxvf rt3290sta-2.6.0.0.dkms.tar.gz
sudo dkms install -m rt3290sta -v 2.6.0.0
sudo modprobe rt3290sta

Once Ubuntu has fixed this and you want to revert to using "stock"
module:

sudo dkms remove rt3290sta/2.6.0.0 --all
