Same problem. Ubuntu 12.04
Cinnamon 2.0.4-20131023040308-precise, IBus 1.4.1-3ubuntu1
Strange thing is that it works well (i.e., both Cinnamon and IBus work)
upon first login, though IBus font size becomes miniature. But if I
restart ibus-daemon or restart cinnamon, the symptom as described above
will occur.
