Christopher, while I appreciate your passion for triaging bugs, and
wishing to strictly adhere to process or protocol, a BIOS update that
will not fix anything is unnecessary, and a waste of time. One can
easily see by looking at the release notes of the BIOS update that it
will not affect this issue, and one can also see by looking at the
history of this report (including of the upstream report which is linked
from this bug), that it has been accepted by upstream as a bug in the
kernel, by a developer who works directly on the Intel drivers, for
Intel.

Unless the Graphics Option ROM version in the BIOS update has changed,
it is going to be an irrelevant update, in relation to this bug. So
please don't waste my time (and anyone else who may be watching this
bug), by insisting that a BIOS update be applied, where the Graphics
Option ROM version has not changed.
