I am running Linux Mint and an Iphone 5 7.0.3, I have the same problems as the original poster.
My iPhone works fine with my Mac and Widnows 7, but I can not get rid of the Trust command no matter how many times I hit trust. I am thinking of switching over to XFCE, but doubt I will see any difference.
