I've flashed the BIOS update via FreeDOS live cd and I'm currently on version A10, release date 08/28/2013. At first, it did not look as if it had done anything to fix the problem. Brightness control was still not working.
However, I noticed a recent comment (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/954661/comments/108) that suggested changing the option of Load Legacy Option Rom to Enabled from the BIOS setup menu. I also removed all options from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub so it was an empty string. Now it appears that with kernel 3.8.0-33-generic I have brightness control working again. I'm not entirely sure if it was indeed the BIOS update or the /etc/default/grub + BIOS setup menu change that ended up correction the situation, but I'll see if I can pinpoint which one did the trick. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1232459 Title: [Dell XPS 13 L322X] Brightness control broken on Raring 13.04 after kernel upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1232459/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
