[ SOLVED ]
facing same problem, ( HP Compaq 6910p )
used ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64 to create startup disk of
ubuntu-12.04.3-desktop-amd64
but no luck so far.
as mentioned, disabled boot from floppy (as there was no option to disable
floppy controller)
but nothing happened
then i tried to enable SATA Native Mode in BIOS, reboot and wait for about five
minutes,
it print error message
timeout: killing '/sbin/modprobe -bv pci:-------- '
[197]
repeatedly, then show ubuntu logo and booted fine.
