@Joshua, To answer your question, it definitely looks as if the OS is using the grub/ directory off the SATA disk get grub up and going in the case where you have a parallel install of Ubuntu on the HDD in addition to the FIO device. It is also pulling the kernel and initrd off of the SATA disk. Once the kernel is loaded, it looks like we hand things off to the FIO devices and the OS comes up on the card.
