Public bug reported:

This bug happens on all of my computers that I have updated to Saucy (Ubuntu
13.10). VLC crashes whenever I try to convert an mp4 file to another mp4 file
and reducing the ratio. It crashes immediately after I press the start button.
It used to work great on previous versions of Ubuntu.
Here is some info:
Ubuntu release: 13.10
VLC version: Installed: 2.0.8-1

Some of the computers have Nvidia graphics cards (with the proprietary
driver) and a laptop has intel graphic card.

** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
