** Description changed:

- Since I upgraded to ubuntu 13.10, Simple Scan has been rendered unusable. It
hangs for about half a minute every now and then for now obvious reason. First
of all, it always hangs when I try to crop a scanned page and sometimes when a
Page has finished scanning. To conclude, it also hangs upon exit for even more
time (about 2-3 minutes). The whole window goes dark and it accepts no input.
- I noticed that, during those hangs, the Hard Disk is also being used - apart
from the Processor.
+ Simple Scan becomes highly unresponsive due to how it automatically
+ saves documents as they are being scanned. This is due to writing large
+ files into a sqlite database and doing it more frequently than is
+ required.

- I am using Ubuntu 13.10 with the latest updates as of today (28.10.2013)
- and Simple Scan 3.10.0 on an HP Deskjet 2050A Printer/Scanner...
+ To reproduce:
+ 1. Open Simple Scan
+ 2. Scan a lot of pages
+ Expected result:
+ The pages scan quickly without excessive memory usage.
+ Observed result:
+ The UI is highly unresponsive and looking in ~/.cache/simple-scan/autosaves
shows a very large database file that is being frequently updated.
+
+ Regression potential:
+ Medium. The autosave mechanism was rewritten to be more efficient. There may
be new bugs exposed in its usage.
