Public bug reported: In an Ubuntu custom version 12.04.3 (fully up to date) where zram-config has worked fine since one year, kernel after kernel, it fails working correctly with the kernel 3.2.0-55.
It throws I/O errors on buffer during the boot ; it triggers freezes in one machine (Dell P4 with 3 GB ram and Intel integrated GPU), and on another machine (laptop IMB Thinkpad T60 with dual-core, 2 GB ram and ATI GPU) it triggers a crash of the X session. We have been two to test repeatedly several times to be sure about the result, we found the same. We first removed zram-config, from there we hunted the leftover zram module activity to end the zram activity (see bug #1036339 - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zram- config/+bug/1036339 about that part), and once zram not loaded anymore and no zramswap device created, the problem was solved. We reverted to the kernel 3.2.0-54, and reinstalled zram-config, checked that it was running, and the issue didn't occur again. Therefore it seems something new in the kernel 3.2.0-55 trigger the issues. While I am here, I do have a question: shouldn't an init config file have a "stop" line after the "start" line? Something such as: stop on runlevel [!2345] just after: start on runlevel [2345] I mean?
