I've unmarked this bug as a duplicate of #903422 since that bug is marked as fixed but this issue is still around in Saucy, using libmtp 1.1.6.
The behaviour is erratic - sometimes mtp-detect, gmtp, etc work but with excessive delays (i.e. many minutes), and sometimes they fail with messages like this: Error 2: PTP Layer error 02fe: get_track_metadata(): call to ptp_mtp_getobjectpropssupported() failed. Error 2: Error 02fe: PTP: Protocol error, data expected They invariably fail this way when it comes to actually transferring data to the device, in my experience. https://sourceforge.net/p/libmtp/bugs/902/ might be considered an upstream bug for this issue. I'm pinging to make it known that this is still ongoing and fairly annoying since music apps can't sync. Interestingly, go-mtpfs works even though it's still compiled against libmtp 1.1.5 in the webupd8team ppa. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 903422 Ubuntu does not work with Samsung Galaxy phones (Unable to open raw device 0) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986722 Title: Can't browse MTP device starting with Android 4 (e.g. Galaxy Nexus) with gmtp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libmtp/+bug/986722/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
