Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop

At this site, there are a bunch of scripts that make xml files smaller.

http://joelbryanonsoftware.blogspot.com/2006/05/8-desktop-
optimization.html

The interesting thing is that when you apply this to xml files used by
desktop applications, they tend to start-up faster.

Applications like rhythmbox start up about 2x (if your library is large enough)
He has scripts for gconf, gnome, evolution, rhythmbox, etc.

Perhaps, its a good idea to run these scripts every midnight or
something by default?

** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
