Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-legacy
The newest update to the NVIDIA legacy drivers (96xx series) don't function properly with GeForce 4 MX 440 chipsets. Some GL acceleration exists, as exhibited by Glxgears and some of the 3D Xscreensavers, but many other GL applications show only a black screen. If it's possible then my suggestion is to include the older driver in the legacy package to until NVIDIA fixes the bug. You decide how to select it on installation. It's located here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_archive.html ... "Linux Display Driver - IA32 Version: 1.0-7185 Operating System: Linux IA32 Release Date: April 20, 2007" That version of the driver also requires COMPOSITE to be disabled in Xorg.conf. Workaround: None, except to completely remove Ubuntu's linux-restricted- modules, and install the driver from the link above. (be sure to get kernel headers for the version of Linux being used, for example linux- headers-2.6.20-16-generic may produce an invalid driver if running Linux 2.6.20-15-generic) ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- NVIDIA legacy drivers may show a blank screen on GeForce 4 MX440 chipsets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132241 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
