Thanks for the workaround but I'll stick with the released version for now (and on this 'production' system).
Here are the initial versions of files and the final versions. I took the brief opportunity when all seemed to be working to restore VATform from the redone desktiop copy I made when it first looked like it was going bad. The copies you have are both from my Desktop. There was temporary data loss on VATform - with neither archive manager nor LibreOffice finding anything in the server copy but stat reported 40 blocks via putty. BTW both SAMBA servers are now returning invalid parameter when I try to 'Connect to server' so it looks like Ubuntu is hurting. Could not display "smb://workgroup;cwsup@gateway/cwsup/". Could not display "smb://workgroup;[email protected]/cwsup/". for both: Error: Invalid argument Please select another viewer and try again. I'm running out of time here so I'm afraid since the task is sorted I have to go out. Unless there's something from you asking otherwise I will be rebooting Ubuntu on my return.
