I can easily reproduce this by the following steps:
1. Open LibreOffice Writer.
2. Semi-maximize to the left or right.
3. Drag decoration to top to maximize window and let go.
The window and desktop will hang at this point and need to switch to a
VT and restart Unity to recover.
This *is* quite nasty and I'll look into it.
