This is fixed for me in saucy as of updates today, at least following my
steps above using Pidgin. Will comment again if I see it elsewhere. If
anyone else had repro for libreoffice and can verify a fix against a
fully updated Saucy, that'd be useful for people reviewing this bug I am
sure...
