I'm currently setting up a trible boot with Windows 8.1, Ubuntu 13.04, and an Ubuntu 14.04 Testing partition. I'll try that when I am done.
Are you sure I need rtl8712u.bin? I'm not aware of my Sabertooth 990FX having a Realtek wifi chip in it. I do note that when I install a new kernel in Ubuntu 13.04 I get: W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/rtl8168g-3.fw for module r8169 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/rtl8106e-2.fw for module r8169 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/rtl8411-2.fw for module r8169 But I don't recall seeing that in Ubuntu 13.10 or 14.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1250321 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 + 14.04 Catastrophic Kernel Crashes on Boot (R8169) with ASUS Sabertooth 990FX To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1250321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
