Since reinstalling wpasupplicant via synaptic package manager, the crash
report has gone away. I'm no expoert, but although I used to get a crash
error every time I booted, the wi-fi worked perfectly normal in every
way, so it wasn't really a problem,  just an annoyance. However, new
users would get worried something was wrong and possible think Ubuntu
was defective.
