Public bug reported:

I am using Cinnamon 2.0.12 in Ubuntu 13.10. I have Gnome 3.10 installed
using the staging, and next ppas.

I need to connect to a secure Wifi at my work place. I get the
authentication dialog prompt when I login to Gnome shell. But I don't
get any authentication prompt if I login to Cinnamon. I am not able to
connect to the Internet then. So to work around this issue, I first log
in using Gnome shell and then log out and log back in to Cinnamon. Then
I am already connected to the Internet.

I don't face this issue with Cinnamon if I am connecting to an
unauthorized network.

** Affects: cinnamon (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
