This may also be expressing in another way (It may also be because I'd
set it up to scan at signon):  Now, each time I boot up, there's an
additional icon down in the panel.  First two, then three, then four,
etc..

Possible explanation comes to mind - I'm green in this area, but Ubuntu
seems to restart apps that were running at logout.  If KlamAV won't take
a command to shutdown but starts a fresh copy at boot-up, multiple
copies of the app could be the result.
