So you're not using vmware-player provided by ubuntu repositories. I really have no idea to solve that problem.. It's a problem of vmware- player, not of ubuntu.
** Changed in: vmware-player (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => vmware-player ** Summary changed: - esd process blocking sound in vmware in Gutsy Tribe 3 + esd process blocking sound in vmware in Gutsy Tribe 4 ** Description changed: - In Gutsy Tribe 3 with all updates until today, - VMware Player 2.0.0 build-45731 starts with its Sound Adapter disabled and if I try to enable it shows an error 'Failed to open sound device /dev/dsp: device or resource busy. Failed to connect virtual device sound'. I'm only able to enable vmware's Sound Adapter if I first kill -9 the esd process. This problem wasn't present in Feisty 7.04. Reproducible: Always BTW: why not adopt OSS 4.0 now instead of using ALSA+ESD?? -- esd process blocking sound in vmware in Gutsy Tribe 4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130994 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
