This hit the Linux Kernel Mailing list as can be seen here: http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/8/2/450 I have no idea why this was not mentioned in this bug report though (I only found out when browsing a different bug report). I wish someone had told me about this at the time as I may have wound up wasting my time and words in a meaningless fashion if the suggested change takes place...
