I do disagree -- users should at the very least be TOLD that their password for their personal device is going to be stored in CLEAR TEXT in an obscure text file that hangs around after installation. That is a very severe security risk, albeit quite apart from the original problem of the installer failure.
btw, further to the error above, my machine was left in a completely unrecoverable state after this error, all binaries had been deleted so there was no possible way to boot the machine, and a subsequent run of the LiveCD USB did not offer to reinstall but only to wipe the drive clean and start again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256085 Title: installer crashes on rescue To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1256085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
