You can boot with the  hw-detect/start_pcmcia=false boot parameter.
This can be done by entering the letter 'e' at the GRUB menu, then
adding  hw-detect/start_pcmcia=false to the boot cmd line.

Another thing you can do is to edit the /etc/default/grub line and add
that parameter to:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT

The line could then look like:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=" hw-detect/start_pcmcia=false"

After editing the /etc/default/grub file, you need to run: 'sudo update-
grub' then reboot.
