You need to edit your apt sources; see /etc/apt/sources.list and
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/.

Karmic has not been supported for over 2.5 years. See

This looks like a mistake; 'ppa-name' looks like a placeholder for the
name of a PPA. It should not be in your sources as a literal archive
name.
